Asking everyone to pray for me. Some have noticed that I've recently been acting "funny". Well I want to my doctor today and she told me that I am suffering from some bad depression. This, factored in with my inability to find a job, being overweight, and lethargy have compined to put a huge strain on my life. Everything just seems hopless for me and at times, bleak. I try to outwardly have a good persona, but inwardly I am deeply worried about my present and future state of being. This has caused me to lack the energy necessary to improve, or even desire to improve my life.
Thankfully she has agreed to up my anti depressant medication and hopefully this will make some improvements on my personality and cause me to develop the energy I need to improve my life.
Please pray for me. This depression is like a virus, if not a curse. It moves and and just sucks the energy and will out of a persons life and makes them complacent and deluded about things to the point of unhealthiness.
Thank you.

That's my life story exactly, Robb. I really for you.
I can't speak for your neurochemical situation, but Zoloft has helped me a lot so I definitely hope you find something that works as soon as you can. It doesn't take the hurt away completely, but trust me it makes it a lot lighter.
I also find that exercise, something light and easy like taking a quick walk around the block actual does make me feel better emotionally. I know you don't feel like it right now but the medication should help get some of your willpower back.
Some of the most important advice, at least for me, was "don't isolate yourself when the depression deepens" it only feeds the vicious cycle of negative affirmation. Go spend some time with your friends or family. It's important to get your mind off self when this stuff starts bubbling up.
Don't worry about the physical right now. You won't starve here in the US. Just focus on feeling better, trust me it makes every else "doable."
I'll be praying.
"Lord Jesus, through the prayers of the holy angel of healing Raphael and your holy Mother the Theotokos, have mercy on your servant Robb. Send him your peace which passes all understanding and let him know that things will get better. Amen."

Medication will help get you moving but it won't prevent a relapse- unless your manic-depressive/bipolar, which is thought to be entirely a chemical problem.
Your negative thinking is not just a symptom of depression but a cause and it's something that can be treated. Cognitive therapy is one of the most effective ways to treat depression and it greatly reduces your risk of relapse. You need to stop ruminating on real or imagined negative things in your life. You also combat the negative things your telling yourself. I would suggest you find a cognitive therapist.
I'll be praying for you.

Robb, I will pray doubly hard for you as I know first-hand at least some of what you're going through.
Lord, have mercy on your servant!

Jesus Christ have mercy on your servant. amen
To overcome it you have to forget the past. never look back. look forward... you have to fight for freedom. keep praying and always looking forward, forget the job forget everything. God can change all.
You have to make the first step. Enroll at a local gym or do exercise by yourself for twice a week, eat healthy, make the first step. start slowly with just walking, and then try to progress. Our worst enemy is ourself. overcome your lithargy, take back your life in control and fight for freedom. Pray to God. He always listens, He is always there. Stop thinking about it. Just do a small step. you will fell, but you will get up, keep going. and when you fall you will rise again and then walk a straight line. and eventually the footsteps of Jesus will guide you.
Continue your medication, but do exercise.....forget what other people will do or say. just do your thing, keep going. do socialise. keep most of your time occupied, whether a walk in the park, or watch some football, singing, gardening.
Exercise gradually, eat healthier and sleep at proper times. wake up in the morning for a walk. do organise events with your friend. go to church. there are so many things you can do to keep occupied. you need to do things you like
as for the job, relax for a while. make lots of applications, look for the right one. when the right one comes it will be yours. Don't be scared. Everything is there for you.

St Johns wort is a natural herb for depression. (But you can't take this with others medications).
Omega 3 are quite helpful. could help you recover in a short time (fish oils good)
Memor-X is good for memory (vitamins / phynenaline)
Homeopathy is alternative medicine, might also be helpful.
but exercising is the best.

Rob, you are in my prayers. I have a similar problem. i have been out of work for a long time and even had tomove back home to my parent's place. But now i have a contract job for a bit. I have been there. I hope you have some good friends who are in contact regularly with you. If not I will add that to my prayer list too.

Thanks for this advice. I already am taking Omega 3 vitamins (but recently ran out). I wonder if this might have something to do with my recurrence of depression? I'm definitely going to have to get somemore as soon as I can. Also, thanks again to all for your kind prayers and advice.

I know this is in the prayers section and i woudn't normally make a comment but that other people have typed advice as well as prayers so i thought i would just say that even though i don't pray really i did have bad depression that is gone now. I didn't have medication but the reason why i was depressed won't help you because yours will be for different reasons but just that if you want to call me when you feel lonely even if its late then im good with that. I can think of a million things to talk about some even funny that won't help you long term but might help you when you need a distraction. Anyway pm me if you want my cell number. I think i can get free minutes if you're international so then you can just prank my cell and i can call back. Poppy
