Dear brothers and sisters and friends,
My mother had a CT scan today to help diagnose a persistent cough she's had for two years. The doctor called her back and wants to speak with her tomorrow. I'm a little worried that such a quick response may not be good. If you remember, could you please say a prayer for Carol? Thanks.
O Most Holy Theotokos, pray for the handmaiden Carol! In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Thank you all for your prayers! Update- They found a "spot" on one of her lungs. Tomorrow, she will have another type of scan. If it is detected as serious, she will need a biopsy immediately after the scan. Please continue to pray for my mother, Carol.

After many scans and a biopsy, my mother was told yesterday that she has stage 4 metastatic (sp?) cancer. My family is rallying around her and will fight the good fight as long as it's God's will, but in preparation for what might lay ahead, I will be absent from the forum indefinitely. My mothers' cancer is in her lungs, spine and hip but it may not be as bad as it sounds. In a few weeks, when a few more test results come back, we'll find out a more exact prognosis. Thank you all so much for your thoughts, prayers emails and kind words. Please continue to pray for my mother and that the cancer she has will be estrogen sensitive (which is treated with estrogen blocking drugs) and thus could prolong the longevity/quality of her life.

Update- Glory to Jesus Christ! The oncologist explained that the cancer cells are estrogen sensitive which means that mom will not have to undergo chemo or radiation but instead take estrogen blocking meds and receive a shot once a month. I know that we're not out of the clear and that we probably won't ever be, but I am so thankful that she will not have to have poison injected into her system. I want to say thank you for your prayers and kind emails. They really meant a lot to my family.  |
