Lol. Most of the "About Thailand" section goes to information about Thailand's royal family. Grin

A Paschal charity opera concert was held in Pattaya

A Paschal charity opera concert was held in the resort town of Pattaya at the Royal Cliff Hotel. Appearing on stage were soloists of the Bolshoi Theatre: Sergei Moskalkov and Yuri Baranov, as well as soloists of the "Russian Opera", Nadezhda Niwinski, Alina Shakirov, Elena Kalagina and Lyudmila Vorobyov. Shizuka Toritani, the concertmaster of the "Russian Opera" theater, accompanied on the piano. The visit of the artists to Thailand was made possible through the sponsorship of Russian Foundation of St. Nicholas.

Funds from the Paschal concert, with the blessing of the Representative of the Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in Thailand Archimandrite Oleg (Cherepanin), and in accordance with the decision of the Foundation Committee of the Orthodox Church in Thailand will be sent to help local villagers in the province of Ratchaburi, where the Holy Church of the Dormition of the Moscow Patriarchate is located ¡ª 100 km. from the Thai capital. Local village authorities appealed to the Orthodox Church for help. Thailand's land forces are located near the Orthodox church . All the villages in the district -- except the one to which funds will be sent ¡ª have early warning systems for ground maneuvers and target practice. The Orthodox community in Thailand is planning to establish a notification system in the village for local residents.

Wow this is amazing. I only thought there was a small russian orthodox chapel in Thailand but appearently orthodoxy must be spreading Smiley

I notice the site says the Orthodox Church is officially registered as of 2008, that's wonderful. I visited an unregistered protestant church while there. It was scary to say the least.
