He wasn't a monk when he fought, the story (of a soldier who was with St. Dimitri Donskoi at the Battle of Kulikovo) is told via flashbacks. Thank you. I just thought that he looked like a monk when he was fighting Temir-murza. Actually, it looks like I was wrong. My bad. I thought I understood it after the first few minutes. Now I've watched the whole thing. Yeah, I guess they are fighting as monks. As I understand it, that's against the rules, but I'm sure it happened in history, sadly. According to the video description, this was put out by the Moscow Patriarchate so perhaps they mean to say that the need at Kulikovo was so great even the monks fought. I was unaware this happened in history, though St. Sergius of Radonezh did give Donskoi his blessing.

Yes, I have heard about situations were monks have defended their monasteries when they were under attack. But then again, who am I to question the decision of the russian church

According to the accounts I read, St. Sergius would not bless Donskoi to go to war with Mamai until Donskoi promised he had tried every avenue of peaceful resolution. So I guess the monks thought this was an exceptional circumstance, I dunno.

He wasn't a monk when he fought, the story (of a soldier who was with St. Dimitri Donskoi at the Battle of Kulikovo) is told via flashbacks. St. Sergei did indeed bless his schemamonk (Alexander Peresvet) to fight the Mongols' champion. It was the opening of the battle and they killed each other at the first run.

Stinky! Nasty! Garlic! "So much better than the expensive cooking gadgets we got for our wedding!"-she said with that bitter, "my marriage is a suffocating sham" look in her eye... Ike was never heard from again, but the omelets were unusually chunky the next day. Berman was the only one who didn't have one.

I ended up watching the Bullet to Go ad, too, which I had never seen. Berman is an alcoholic....and Tina is either pregnant or sticking to sobriety! I would have loved to audition for this commercial. Seriously.
