You're married to a Christian? You must have fairly interesting coffee table conversations.

The video is nice. Very comfy even though I've never even visited an Episcopal church. Not any of those around here.

The parish has a non-Episcopalian organist? Sense this makes none.

He's been a church musician since he was in middle school. He knows more about various liturgical rubrics than most clergy. He feels that his music is a way to help people enhance their connection to  G-d.

Thanks. I wasn't aware of that. I guess American churches have stronger emphasis on music than churches here since AFAIK no church here does that.

I'm curious how much church organists get paid (the ones that do get paid) and how these churches afford it. Even churches near me that seem to be in financial crisis seem to be able to pay professional musicians for every Sunday.

Oh boy, here rises my contrarian nature. Sorry, but this really aggravates me, because it equates English with literacy. Oh what a blessing for those poor ignorant, illiterate folks (who may know five languages) to finally be able to understand English!  ::)

Hardly. (I can do that in five, btw.) The video promotes functional literacy in the language of one's country of residence. Do you have an issue with that?

Fixed it for you. It is, indeed, a blessing that you take for granted.

Because it's not a blessing to be able to read in languages other than English?

Hardly. (I can do that in five, btw.) The video promotes functional literacy in the language of one's country of residence. Do you have an issue with that?

Yeah, I have an issue with the latent racism of the video.

The Power of Words

I TRY not to hate it when you make me tear up!
Thanks.

Oh boy, here rises my contrarian nature. Sorry, but this really aggravates me, because it equates English with literacy. Oh what a blessing for those poor ignorant, illiterate folks (who may know five languages) to finally be able to understand read English!  ::)

Minorities being at a disadvantage when it comes to literacy is not racism - it is fact, and a result of racism.

Peace be to you, Gebre.
I speak contrarian!
Consider now those folks can now be ignorant in English as well as the rest of us.
BTW, who among us knows enough to be that good in any single language, let alone there Mother Tongue?
I know pride goes before me as well.
