As the title suggests, I'm looking for a Patron Saint. It's very possible that I do not fully understand exactly what a Patron Saint is. If my understanding is correct, it's a Saint that will intercede for you. It is someone you can ask to pray for you.
I hope my understanding is correct.
I had read that your Patron Saint is supposed to be someone who has one (or more) of the following characteristics
1) His / Her name day is very close to your birthday
2) Lived in an area very close to where your live (or where your Church is)
3) Has qualities that you want / need in your life
My Saint (if I am allowed to pick this particular person), falls into category #3 for me.
Please hear me out first. Constantine the Great is considered a Saint of the Orthodox Church. He has all the qualities I need in my life. He was brave. He did himself what he asked of others. Being outnumbered, he was unflinchingly brave and would be willing to fight for what he knew was right. Most importantly (and very similar to previous example), when he was surrounded by people who didn't believe what he believed, he never compromised on his beliefs...he remained faithful. Durring his reign, only 10% of the Roman Empire was Christian, which mean 90% of people would have disagreed with him, yet he never let that interfere with his faith.
Those are the exact qualities I want. Is he qualified to be a Patron Saint?
Thank you in advance.
