So...

This may seem a stupid question, but..

Do Orthodox Christians believe that the ONLY way to Heaven is Christ?

The reason I ask is that I was discussing Orthodoxy with my mother today. She seemed to be supportive of my journey to Orthodoxy, and willing to take me to an Orthodox church. But she stated that she would never go to a church that didn't recognize Christ as the only way to Heaven.

I think this is a situation where the answer is "YES!  but..."

The only way to heaven is through Christ. However, if God wants to make an exception (cf Rom. 2:12-16), then that's up to God. But it's not for us to say (or know) who the exceptions might be, it's only for us to "teach all nations". So yes, the path to heaven is through Christ, and we leave everyone else up to the mercy and judgment of God.

I think. ;)

Yes. If people who didn't hear the Gospel or heard a perverted form reach heaven, it's still through Christ and through no other way.

...you can imagine so-called healing services of the pigpen. The books that could be written, you know: Life in the Pigpen. How to Cope in the Pigpen. Being Happy in the Pigpen. Surviving in the Pigpen. And then there could be counselling, for people who feel unhappy in the pigpen, to try to get them to come to terms with the pigpen, and to accept the pigpen.

While some may believe that those who have never heard of Christ might still make it to heaven by leading Godly lives to the best of their intention all believe the only way to heaven is through Christ's conquering of Death.  God saves whom He will save, and Christ came into the world to save all.

Pretty much what the other two posters said, just in different words.

As a side note, the Masoretic Hebrew Psalm 96 reads

"the gods of the nations are idols"

Psalm 95 (96) in the Septuagint (used by the Orthodox Church) reads:

"all the gods of the nations are demons"

So... yeah. EO teaches that there is certainly no salvation through demons.  :D

Technically, yes, if we remember that Christ is God:

Hebrews 11:5 By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death; he could not be found, because God had taken him away. For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God.

Genesis 5:24 Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.

(Enoch lived before Jesus manifested Himself to us.)

We pray:  Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and save us.
The memory of God should be treasured in our hearts like the precious pearl mentioned in the Holy Gospel. Our life's goal should be to nurture and contemplate God always within, and never let it depart, for this steadfastness will drive demons away from us. - Paraphrased from St. Philotheus of Sinai
Writings from the Philokalia: On Prayer of the Heart,
Translated from the Russian by E. Kadloubovksy and G.E.H. Palmer, Faber and Faber, London, Boston, 1992 printing.

What do you mean by that?
