email query

Hi

My email did something strange today, however it has been playing up the last few days, I am with optus net (mail). I had to ring them and get my log in passwords as I could not access my emails until I logged back in and could not remember my log ins and passwords, I have not used  them in over 2 years.

 I successfully did so, after afew minutes of downloading (usually it is just seconds) the notification said I received 128 emails, I thought   virus. However I cannot find any received e-mails in the in box or junk box, so where are they? my main concern though is that perhaps my email is hacked and might be sending things out to people in my contacts list.

I suppose the question is, if this was the case wouldn't everything sent out from my e-mail be shown in the sent box?  I have Norton 360. Costs enough, assume this is full protection.

Other strange thing. I am sending emails to test my account and am not receiving any.

Hi

I have window mail, which used to be my main email, however all my email is now going to microsoft office outlook. I have not purchased this nor want to, therefore I cannot reply to emails sent to outlook.

How do I make window mail my main email again? should I delete outlook?

If you are not going to use Outlook, you might as well uninstall it, since it is just taking up space.

Whatever software checks for e-mails first will likely take them off the server, meaning other programmes will not be able to download those messages in the future.  If you are not opening Outlook, it shouldn't be downloading the messages (unless a daemon is auto-checking for new e-mails; a setting that can be changed).  Like I said above though, you might as well just uninstall Outlook.

If you're not going to use Outlook, I'd agree, take it off your machine. If you want both though, you can change your outlook account setup to Imap rather than POP which would allow you full access to all mail boxes in either access route.
