I purchased some of this incense a couple of days ago because my wife asked me to. She has loved the fragrance of it for years. Upon arriving at home and looking at the box I noticed something...it said: "Satya Sai Baba" on it. Now is this incense made by Sai Baba's ashram, or is it just made in honor of him? I can't seem to find an answer anywhere. I have a pretty big problem supporting Sai Baba by puchasing this incense, if it is, in fact, made by him/his ashram.

According to Wikipedia it is in fact produced by his ashram. I stopped buying it a few years ago myself.

That's what I thought. I love the fragrance, but cannot in good conscience support a man that claims he is god.

You can purchase Nag Champa from other sources, like Dhuni.

Nope, but I have bought from them before, and they're very good.

I believe blackincense is the OC.netter who works there. Smiley

Forgive me if I am intruding.  A friend sent me this link to this discussion.

I am "blackincense" and I am the owner/artisan at Desert Fathers Incense.  I do have a few assistants (not apprentices yet) who help me in the studio, but they are not on this or any other forum.  I would like to simply thank the posters above who complimented my work and to say also:  ALL  glory to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.

I am very grateful for the kind words said about me, and my work and Desert Fathers Incense in general.

DFI began as a small mission and it is my hope and goal to keep it that way.  We are the only producer of authentic Orthodox stick and cone incense in the USA and although there are some outlets that sell stick incense, they are not Orthodox, either Eastern, "Coptic" (I was trained by a Coptic master) nor are they marginally "Christian."   I am very humbled by your support, and your kindness to me, and to DFI.  Please pray for our mission: to provide every home in the world, with Orthodox Christian incense, regardless of their ability to pay.

God bless you.

Thank you for your love and welcome and kindness!!! ((((HUG)))

PS - RE:  Nag Champa in particulaar: if there are any specific questions I can answer about this company, I would be happy to.  I can say that Nag Champa is a Hindu based company made and dedicated not only to Satia Sai Baba, but ALL PROFITS go to the ashram.  The company itself is owned by the ashram.  Additionally, the ashram itself is in part dedicated to the Goddess Kali, who is not very pleasant.  No, not very pleasant at all.

This is a Catholic attempt at stick incenses. Amusing, but endearing at the same time.

Desert Fathers is some of the best incense out there. Prinknash Abbey (Roman Catholic) is also very good, as is the incense from Elder Ephraim's convent in Florida (forget the name), and that directly from Mt. Athos. But DF is great because she cures it well, so it won't clump together. Also, she uses wonderful combinations of fragrances.
