A study by the Translational Genomics Research Institute, found that Staphylococcus aureus – a bacteria that causes most staph infections including skin infections, pneumonia and blood poisoning – are present in meat and poultry from U.S. grocery stores at “unexpectedly high rates.”...

Good thing there's no heat-resistant bacteria in the meat. Heat it up past 160 degrees and everything should be fine. |

With the disgusting factory-farm meat system in this country, why would anybody be surprised? I'm not. It's so disappointing, though, that because of the runoff from the factory farms we're also seeing all these cases of animal-based bacteria appearing in fruit and veggies, too. |

I have 1/4 of a cow coming my way straight from the farm soon. I hope it tastes better than store bought beef. I don't really like cow very much all around. I vastly prefer buffalo and venison.

It is the "hygiene hypothesis" that is going kill us. People in the Western world keep their kids too clean and don't let them eat dirt and stick nasty stuff in their mouths.
The number of bacteria and varieties in a scoop of dirt are mind boggling. Many are similar to less benign strains and when exposed from early on children build an incredible immune system against those future pesky bugs. Much of that immunity is also inherited from the mother, so if she came from silly clean folks, it spirals.
No drugs needed. Stop using the anti-bac and eat dirt.

Why, yes. Could you please quote from the Fathers to the effect that the god of the Muslims is an idol, instead of presenting your own interpretation of the Scriptures? The Fathers that I have read who dealt with the expansion of Islam treated it as an aberration of Christianity, something most definitely worth fighting against, but not idolatry. |

I'll take this to mean that you are in fact not familiar with the writings of the Fathers on Islam. There is so much there that it is inappropriate for you to argue by yourself from Scripture. The Fathers were perfectly aware that Islam is fanatically against images -- their places of worship are empty. Their beliefs are heresy, but not idolatry. |

I have heard of people actively avoiding halal (seriously, like we don't have any other more pressing issues to worry about) meat as a political statement against Muslims who advocate shari'a (or Muslims in general), but I have NEVER heard the idol argument.
