Sorry to say, but I do not speak a word of Serbian, so I can pretty much tell you that I have never sung that carol. However, I am sure that I have heard it sung. I converted from the Lutheran Church around 19 years ago and never really got into a lot of the ethnic stuff like languages. I use a lot of Western Rite materiel for my private devotions because it is hard to find Orthodox prayer books that are written in the English that I learned in my younger days. I understand enough Church Slavonic to get through the service, provided that they stick to the book. I don't even pretend to know Greek or Arabic, and Byzantine Chant offends my ears. First Vamrat has to admit that knows me before he will admit to being in a photograph with me  |

Sorry to say, but I do not speak a word of Serbian, so I can pretty much tell you that I have never sung that carol. However, I am sure that I have heard it sung. Haha there is my priest in the foreground (I know that as always he has visited Podlachia for the Christmas celebrated by Old Style). But why do they wear green vestments? |

What's wrong with green?
I always thought that green is prescribed for Palm Sunday and Pentecost. For Nativity, depending on tradition, it's white, gold or red (can be blue for the second day of the feast). I'm just surprised, beecasue in Poland the colour of vestements is more observed than in some other countries. BTW, what a stupid grammar error made by me |

The Gospel is read in English, Serbian and Slavonic. That is pretty much the only Serbian used in the Liturgy. Our priest is from Serbia, but prefers to use Slavonic. We have a large number of Russians in our parish, so that works out very well. |
