Old news, small pics, interesting nevertheless.

Patriarch Bartholomew in Manaus, the capital of the state of Amazonas, in Brazil (2006). In the first picture you can also see Don Tarásios Metropolitan Archbishop of Buenos Aires and South America

You possibly know the song "Girl from Ipanema". A Brazilian classic, I hear is among the Top 10 hits for elevator music abroad. Smiley

If you don't, watch it here with the original composer and singer and Andy Williams

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQmXGBlIyts

Anyways, here is a picture of the real girl who inspired the song at 17 when the two songwriters saw her pass by and went "waaah" and today at age 67 (the blonde one).

I can see you went "ah" and "oh". Smiley That proves the song's point. Smiley

But indeed, she is 67:

And more photos of her at the age she inspired the song and today:

I know I could google this, but I need to ask, what is a Slava?

It's Serbian thing: the feast of the family's patron. Every Serbian family has its own particular patron. It was the day that the first ancestor of the family was baptised. There are some special rituals for Slava, e.g backing of the Slavski Kolač (something between cake and bread), singing the same troparions as for wedding, drinking red wine (symbol of the Martyrs' blood)  with special prayers-toasts called Slavarica and so on Wink

Romaic Empire vs Holy "Roman" Germanic Empire

What's up with the design of the Holy Roman Empire's eagle/falcon. Do they realize it looks straggly or like it is unhealthy? I understand that the Holy Roman Empire's shield really did look like that.
