OK...so, here's another one.
This is from the Pan-Orthodox Vespers tonight at a Romanian Orthodox Cathedral.

The Cross that was decorated with flowers, had an actual relic of THE TRUE CROSS!!!  How cool is that!?!

I laid my own cross upon it....

Not much different from the typical interior of the rural Podlachian church. Maybe slightly bigger than the normal one.

Just the same. I love the crucifix to the right. What is that small structure on the left side in front of the icon stands?

Propably a catafalque that is used on Great Friday and Dormition.

Such blue-painted wooden churches are quite common there.

Taking into account that most of that Churches were built in the Eastern Catholic era or slightly later (Russian neobaroque) - I have to agree. Luckily newly built churches have more traditional iconography.

I've actually developed a liking to more "Western" looking iconography over the years. I used to make quite a stink out of it but now, I quite like it. I love the look of that church. Inside and out. Glory to God.

Ahem. The sorts of images and decor in that shot is all there was around in my neck of the woods until barely 20 years ago. Bit by bit, these churches are changing for the better. It just takes time and careful education to put things right.  Wink
