Interesting picture.Which is the meaning of it? I'm not sure what the "author" meant by it....but, I see it as - we live for the moment and don't see beyond our immediate needs. The guy is stuck in a cold hole. He's cold so he destroys the ladder to build the fire to stay warm. However, in fact he could have simply climbed that ladder and gotten out of the hole entirely... ....but, his current lifestyle is keeping him in that hole. This can reflect on our lives and how we live them daily. Are we so obssessed with the here and now....that we don't look at our future...and don't have a goal. Are we so lost...that we could miss the ladder to Heaven because we are living only for the day....to satisfy our daily needs. ...that's what I got out of it.

Yes, but, if you are overly focused on the here and now...you may destroy your future.
If you get bogged down with your daily cares, you just might lose sight of that future.

I collect photos of various rebel groups, and the one above is one that I had in my collection (although not so large). The Liberian Rebels were certainly a strangly dressed lot. Just one of thousands of reasons why these barbarians need to be colonized.
