The main attraction of the amusement park is a 60ft (18m) high mechanical statue of Jesus that rises up once an hour from a plaster replica of the Golgotha mountaintop.

The event is accompanied by a loud chorus from Handel's Messiah.

When the giant Jesus has completed his ascent, he swivels, closes his eyes and rotates the palms of his hands, provoking great emotion in the visitors at the bottom of the mountain.
What, no funnel cake stand?  Preposterous!

My first thought is that I want to see a mashup of that and Max's reactions to the Possum Show from A Goofy Movie.

Archaeologists have unearthed a fragment of an ivory icon at the Byzantine frontier fortress of Rusokastro in southeastern Bulgaria. Depicting the archangel Gabriel and Saint Basil, the 3.2-inch-tall icon dates to the tenth century...

I don't see them as saying they are merged with Oriental Orthodoxy. Their website says that they are Antiochian Orthodox and they speak of the 6th Council as if it's an authority for them:
"  Wisely leading the Church, Saint Gregory worked tirelessly in propagating the Word of God. Saint Gregory compiled the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts in the Latin language. Affirmed by the Sixth Ecumenical Council, this liturgical service was accepted by all the Orthodox Church. "

Syriac is one of our liturgical languages too, people forget that. It fell out of use, but we used it also.

Armenian though, I can't explain that one away.

Yeah, they're pretty ecumenical on their website. Maronites, Catholics, Anglicans, Jews a lot of different groups are mentioned on there. It certainly wouldn't be surprising. And, the Antiochian Church, is in effectively already in communion with the Syriac Church as it stands.

St. Antonios Orthodox church in Halifax (I like the text is in 5 languages, featuing Arabic, Syriac and Armenian)

The parish seems to be EO, that's interesting... Maybe they received OO immigrants and all merged?
I don't see them as saying they are merged with Oriental Orthodoxy. Their website says that they are Antiochian Orthodox and they speak of the 6th Council as if it's an authority for them:
"  Wisely leading the Church, Saint Gregory worked tirelessly in propagating the Word of God. Saint Gregory compiled the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts in the Latin language. Affirmed by the Sixth Ecumenical Council, this liturgical service was accepted by all the Orthodox Church. "

Oh give it a break.

Be careful.  Someone who doesn't see what he's doing here will accuse you of picking on rakovsky.

The most spot on non sequitur ever posted in the history of the forum!  Johnny 5 is alive...and posting!!!  ;D
I'm with the camp of 13 million Americans that believe politicians are, or are controlled by, Reptilians. I think only monks can solve this problem. It doesn't seem right that they prefer to ignore it.
