I think he's hoping to be thought of as fun-sized, rather than a midget.

It would be funnier if it were Maggie Grace.

Weird. It kind of reminds me of the double Mustang used in the Korean war, though much much bigger.

Pentecost at my parish. This year no bishop (he used to be vicar in our diocese, but he's newly elected archbishop of Wrocław and Szczecin), but 12 trees. Read: new pastor. But I'm happy of this, since there were only flowers in the church and the ones held by people.

I want to see an icon of St. Mary of Egypt noetic, yet pre-ascetic looking, if you know what I mean.

Found it.

St. Herman?

Of Alaska, yes.

What is the significance of the animal?

He had sympathy with our anti-Chalcedonian father St. Timothy II ;)

Oooh.  Low blow!

I normally frown on poking fun on images of saints, but I really don't get why this artist has drawn St. Herman mooning over and blessing some sort of mustelid, especially in a sketch that looks like it might've been drawn by someone on Ben Horne's payroll.

It's probably meant to show the saint's love of animals.  Like our own St. Rewis and St. Barsoum el Arian.  It's probably to show some sort of deified harmony of the saint with nature.

Funny concerning the title "Aelurus"; while it might have been taken in a negative sense, we took it in a positive way, as to show the apparent ascetism of our father because of his slender figure.

I get that.  But why an arboreal mustelid?  Why not a creature more loaded with symbolism, like the ever-popular bear (a la St. Seraphim of Sarov, etc.)?  Was the saint associated with this particular kind of animal in some way?  Did it have some special significance for the people he was evangelizing?

Funny concerning the title "Aelurus"; while it might have been taken in a negative sense, we took it in a positive way, as to show the apparent ascetism of our father because of his slender figure.

I thought it was an otter (otters have an association with Saint Cuthbert, for one). Could be wrong though.

St. Herman’s influence spread even to other creatures. A group of ermine lived near his cell. These animals are known to be extremely timorous. However, they ran up to the saint and ate out of his hand. St. Herman was also seen feeding a bear.

Otters are in the weasel family

I'm aware, the otter association came up with me specifically because of Saint Cuthbert. But it looks like Denise's ermine anecdote is the most likely.

Ah, I see...

Yea, it's probably an artist's mistake then.  That's too big to be an ermine, if I'm not mistaken
