I feel like this is some scene from the cartoon hit series the Boondocks
Vain existence can never exist, for "unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain." (Psalm 127)

If the faith is unchanged and rock solid, then the gates of Hades never prevailed in the end.

Astounding accurate.

Basically how modernist Roman Catholicism is.

Why's the nun in profile holding a fish? Is it the annual Lenten Sky Surfing with Bouquets Fish Fry?
A symbol of the ICHTYS ?...

Question a friend, perhaps he did not do it; but if he did anything so that he may do it no more.
A hasty quarrel kindles fire,
and urgent strife sheds blood.
If you blow on a spark, it will glow;
if you spit on it, it will be put out;
                           and both come out of your mouth

Good idea. I was thinking it represented fasting during lent, the palms of Palm Sunday are on the right. The nuns aren't wearing rings so they must be Orthodox. I do not understand the rose garlands (they are too large to be [Hesychastic] bridal crowns) nor the tribute to Mark Patterson's mosaic of the Virgin of Guadalupe (surfboard).

I've heard similar stories concerning some of Dr. King's extramarital improprieties and some scandalous accusations concerning A.L.F. and the location of Paul Fusco's mitts relative to his posterior.  Nevertheless, their lights still shine in our dim and weary world.  Selah!

Maybe it is the left hand side of a diptych, but it does kind of remind me of poster art.

No doubt it was at least modeled off of a icon that was with other icons. Something with her expression bothers me. Seems offensive to the Virgin

Nowadays, I don't know who the three biggest powers are. In the Cold War of 1946 it was the US, Britain, and USSR.

Now it's US as #1. The European Union is #2, but Brexit and problems in Greece and Spain weakened them, and they don't have Norway or Switzerland either.
Not sure who is after that. UK, France, S.O.I, China, Russia are all powerful globally.

To put it more bluntly, I can't shake the feeling she's giving a sort of 'come hither' look. I'm sure its all perception and nothings really wrong with it, but it still seems suspect.

I think a "come hither" stare would be more obvious than that.

Too late, I sent in the photo and got a bid from a friend who paints icons.  I'm going to have her reproduce this one, then I'll scan it and make cards to tape to the back of every pew.
