She asked for someone to pray for her parish. So I did.

Why do you have to be rude about a request for prayer?

she whines about a synodal decision no one but her disagrees actively. she thinks getting some online support to her cause will change the mind of bishops and they will decide accordingly to her will.

So you're whining uselessly about someone else whining uselessly?

Yes. The difference being I know mine posts are useless.

Bi-calendar Liturgy in my parish today - this is a consquence of introducing by force the old calendar. As I asked you in the prayer forum, please, pray for my parish, that we can celebrate Nativity and Epiphany (new calendar, but also this tiny old calendar group too) in peace, not like today st. Nicholas feast

Lord have mercy.

Get over it.

She asked for someone to pray for her parish. So I did.

Why do you have to be rude about a request for prayer?

she whines about a synodal decision no one but her disagrees actively. she thinks getting some online support to her cause will change the mind of bishops and they will decide accordingly to her will.

The problem is that the vast majority of parsih doesnt agree with that decision, but no one dares to be active regarding it because of some reasons. Now I don't do anything beside asking for prayers, as taht's what my priest has forbidded me, even threatening by an epithemy (that's what advised him metropolitan), so it's not surprising nobody tries to do something. However, I know that the situation from last Sunday has upset people.

And it's obviosu such calendar mixes in November, December and January can't be repeated every year. Imagine, the comign Sunday it's quite high probability (I know the choir director had discussed it with our rector) to have "some elements" of the Sunday of Forefathers, and as we're theoretically old calendar parish, it's also st. Andrew's day, so the fun is going to be continued.

So I'm asking for prayers to celebrate in peace the coming Nativity/Epiphany season and in a future to resolve the whole situation (and our parishioners won't agree for old calendar Christmas).
Pray for persecuted Christians, especially in Serbian Kosovo and Raška, Egypt and Syria

I'm not sure these two quotes are entirely irreconcilable.

One could reasonably argue that Christianity is every bit as incompatible with Western ideals (rationalism, capitalism, individualism, materialism, "freedom" for freedom's sake, etc.) as Islam is, and that if Islam has declared war on "the world", so should we (nonviolently, of course). Therefore we're closer to it than we think we are.

Sort of like a more radical version of the Benedict Option (Rod Dreher wants to have his cake and eat it too, because he still identifies as a conservative and with the West. But a more radical option would be to argue that Christianity is in fact an Eastern religion and that while Christians might live in the West, we are not of it and are in some sense a diaspora).

So when someone claims that Islam is incompatible with American and/or Western values, half the time what I end up thinking is "if we Christians were really doing our job as Christians, they'd be saying the same things about us, too."

"Science! Logic!" accompanied almost every major conflict of the Twentieth Century. Perhaps our comic thinks appeals to these were invented by the young internet crowd (and perhaps he thinks science and logic were invented by the young internet crowd).

Isn't that ZZ's lil one?

You know what's funny? I visited ZZ and co. last April. Her sister drove me to the airport when it was time to go home and probably not 10 minutes from ZZ's house, we passed by an alpaca farm. It all started to make sense.

Attend to the words of St. Photius!

Quote
Even so, if any among them has fallen into something unseemly — for they were all men and human, and no one composed of dust and ephemeral nature can avoid some trace of defilement — I would then imitate the sons of Noah and cover my father's shame with silence and gratitude instead of a garment. I would not have followed Ham as you do. Indeed, you follow him with even more shamelessness and impudence than he himself, because you publish abroad the shame of those whom you call your Fathers. Ham is cursed, not because he uncovered his father, but because he failed to cover him. You, however, both uncover your Fathers and brag about your audacity. Ham exposes the secret to his brothers; you tell yours not to one or two brothers, but in your rash and reckless abandon, proclaim the shame of your Fathers to the whole world, as if it were your theatre. You behave lewdly towards the shame of their nakedness and seek other revellers with whom to make more conspicuous festival, rejoicing when you expose their nakedness to the light!
