Proof that beef can be eaten on certain fasting days  :P
Now enthusiastically endorsed by OC.net.  ;)

My wife's godmother recently told us her dear husband (in his mid 80's and as lovable and pious a Christian as you would ever meet)  insists (not jokingly at all) that chicken is not meat and is suitable during Great Lent.

My sister would be pleased with that suggestion  :P

My favorite neighbor lady.

Today for our 5.30 AM walk I asked to take her picture, and she agreed by simply stopping and posing.  After I snapped the picture, she gave me a big hug.

We walk in the same park.  After a year or so of seeing each other in the park everyday, she started talking to me.

Unfortunately I don't speak Cambodian.  So, she speaks, I listen.

After another year, she started to know just when to reach out and touch me, when I'm feeling like nothing is right in this world and I'm tired and disgusted with it all, she quietly takes my hand and talks to me, and I listen.

She tells me about how many times she's walked around the park and how she's trying to work on losing the weight she's gained.

She laughs and laughs at the dog our old neighbor left with me before he fell asleep.

She always has a smile for me, yet this woman lived through the unimaginable horror of a genocide that killed 1-3 million out of 8 million Cambodians.

Her heart is so peaceful.  All of us love her and some pitch in to help her daughter care for her while she works.

We took a couple of pictures together because she was curious how the camera worked.

This one came out blurry, but it was our first picture together.  She laughed and laughed at the funny neighbor's dog who lives at my house now.

Yes, unfortunately, I have no proper documentation to show, so you'll have to settle for this selfie I took of me in my church shirt and ask yourself "Would anyone other than an Old Ritualist wear something like this on a regular basis?"
