Here is a pic of Luke Harper--a professional wrestler with the gimmick of being an overzealous American convert to Orthodoxy--as Lent was nearing an end and Pascha approaching*

The last time I was at a protestant communion in a megachurch, the pastor went with, "In the Bible, Jesus said, 'This represents my body...this represents my blood...'"  That really sealed the deal for me.  For such a "Bible-believing church", he lied straight from the pulpit.
Happy shall he be, that shall take and dash thy little ones against the rock. Alleluia.

Nein!

German monks perfected the art of brewing and, in fact, called beer "liquid bread", ergo an acceptable fasting food.

I don't know about that, but I was delighted when my adult son told me that whiskey should be cconsidered "liquid barley".

If vodka is potato juice, then brandy is grape juice. Potato "essence" is perhaps the better term, if we say that the distillation process reveals the potato's true nature or Logos. In that respect, whiskey also constitutes the Logos of barley.
