So it's Halloween. Here are some Brazilian goblins and legends for you

Saci-Pererê

Born inside bamboo nodes, the Saci appears as a one-legged black boy wearing a red hood and smoking pipe. He has the ability to turn into a windwhirl and spends his time tying knots on horses manes and doing other tricks. If you take his hood, or capture him inside a bottle, he must obey you and concede wishes. To capture the Saci you must use a sieve weaved to shape a cross and throw it on him while in windwhirl form. Then you must place the bottle under the sieve. Then you lock him in the bottle with a cork where you previously draw a cross. Another ability is that when you hear his whistle near you, it's because the Saci is far and when you hear the whistle very far, it's because the Saci is near.

Curupira

With his feet backward, the Curupira is a forest spirit who punishes hunters who are cruel to the game. His backward feet confuses trackers and he has the ability of getting you dizzy or even mad so you get lost in the forest. In extreme cases, the Curupira turns the hunter into the game so he is hunted in the same way.

Cuca

A cayman witch who preys on children. She hides in the innermost caves of the forest.

Boitatá

The Boitatá is a spirit snake that haunts the rural areas. It is said that in a period when there was a flood, all the animals sought refuge on top of a hill. There, an evil snake cornered them and seeking the shine in their eyes ate their eyes, thus becoming a spirit flaming, shining snake. If it meets a person, it will eat the eyes while you're still alive to have their shine and only then kill you.

Here's the whole gang together with two other random spirits...

On a mention of honour, according to local legends - remember that Brazil is traditionaly Roman Catholic - if a woman marries or has an affair with a priest, she will be cursed to turn into a headless mule every midnight between Thursday and Friday.

In that form she must visit seven cemeteries and seven crossroads before returning to her original form. The headless mule has fire coming out of her neck and will kill anyone she meets. To reverse the curse, she must be bled, but she is not easily hit and has tough skin.

Many Energies, 3 Persons, 2 Natures, 1 God, 1 Church, 1 Baptism, and 1 Cup. The Son begotten only from the Father, the Spirit proceeding only from the Father, Each glorifying the Other. The Son sends the Spirit, the Spirit Reveals the Son, the Father is seen in the Son. The Spirit spoke through the Prophets and Fathers and does so even today.

Chandra Bahadur Dangi (left) from Nepal and Sultan Kosen from Turkey pose for photographers during a photocall for the Guinness World Records in London. Dangi (54.6 cm) is considered the smallest living person and Kosen (251 cm) is a Turkish farmer who holds the Guinness World Record for tallest living male.

The broadcats of Serbian national TV ends up with the beginning of the Communion of the faithful, although thre are at least a few priests going out with the chalices ;)

It's not renovation, but, still, construction. As I see, there is not yet the translation of the Serbian Patriarchate website about the Liturgy and the sermons of the two patriarchs, and, I must say, this one preached by Cyrill is pretty good and he said about this construction story lasting more than 100 years because of the difficult and martyr Serbian history.

That is a good one. I always saw either Catholic, Anglican/Episcopal clergy member or a Protestant pastor with MLK and other public figures who changed the world to a better place, but rarely saw an Orthodox clergy member, and it is very refreshing to see this one. And to see that Eastern Orthodoxy stood in the way of racism and inequality in America way back.
