I like this. This is how Ethiopian Orthodox make the sign of the Cross. The index finger and middle finger form the shape of the Cross, the thumb meets the ring and pinky fingers to symbolize the Trinity.
I think he's actually doing the "Christogram" gesture of blessing, which I think is common to several liturgical rites. The index forms an I, the middle finger forms a C, the ring finger and thumb form an X, and the little finger forms the additional C. The difference is that the little finger isn't together with the thumb and ring fingers, and it's only for blessing, not for crossing oneself.
"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust." --Psalm 91: 1-2

I noticed my Coptic priest make the Christogram hand signal over the bread and wine during the liturgy.  I asked him about it, and he said that this is an ancient Coptic tradition.  In other circumstances when a cross is normally used for a general blessing and the priest does not have the cross readily in his hand, he uses the Christogram.

Likewise! There are some great ones of the Mass from the late 1800s/early 1900s, I was happy to find a neat Orthodox one too. That Ethiopian one is great, please share others you find too!

Any hierarch without a furry mitre has embraced the pan-heresy of ecumenism.

A artist friend of mine had this on Facebook. It is totally out of character for him. I thought it interesting that Mor thought it looked like one of his dreams. That is exactly what I thought when I saw it. I almost put a caption on it of "welcome to my dreams".

Hesy-cat!
The memory of God should be treasured in our hearts like the precious pearl mentioned in the Holy Gospel. Our life's goal should be to nurture and contemplate God always within, and never let it depart, for this steadfastness will drive demons away from us. - Paraphrased from St. Philotheus of Sinai
