That looks way too organized to be a proper Orthodox procession. Are you sure those aren't Maronites in disguise?

Coptic choir of deacons (subdeacons or lower though probably) on a "Nahda" procession (procession in honor of the Theotokos) in the Metropolos of Assiut in Dronka suburb.

Keep in mind they do this daily for the fast of the Theotokos, and temperatures there are 120-130 Fahrenheit!

They're definitely Orthodox, though at least one of the Facebook comments noted (with surprise and pleasure) the coordination of the event(s).  :)

He was in exile.  He's back home now.  :P

Seriously, though, I don't know if it's because I tend to notice him more (for obvious reasons) or because he gets or has his own good media coverage or what, but His Holiness seems to be a very visible (and down to earth) presence and advocate for the suffering Christians of the Middle East, whatever Church they may belong to.  I don't doubt the hard work of the other patriarchs in that region, but this one seems to be particularly zealous and untiring.  He makes us all proud.

Our parish had the blessing of His Holiness praying a liturgy with us when he was still the Metropolitan in NJ.  If it wasn't for the hat, you couldn't tell if he was a Coptic bishop or a Syrian bishop.  He can chant a Coptic liturgy very well.

The question is, can anything good STAY in Jersey?

He was in exile.  He's back home now.  :P

Well, we in the land of exile miss him....but understand.

Vesper Bells, by Carlos Schwabe

I find this both beautiful and oddly eerie.
"But we must live in the world, having peace in our soul. We must live amidst strangers; we must suffer, struggle, and firmly believe. We must seek our consolation in prayer and not doubt the love and compassion of God. He is above everyone and everything."

Looks very 17th century-ish.

I'm pretty sure LBK wouldn't approve at all.
