Those minarets ...

Holy Ascension Monastery is saving to build a replica of this on their grounds. I wonder if they'll include the minarets or not? Them muslims just couldn't resist adding them to one of our best buildings  :(

If Orthodoxy ever gets to reclaim that Holy Place, why not just keep the minarets, since they were used to call people to prayer, when it was a active mosque, why not convert the minarets to bell towers, Since now there part of the history of the Church...... :police:

First picture was clear, showing the flaws of the US in dealing with African American slaves and fetal lives.
Second picture seemed like a reply to the first picture with an atheist undertone.

Which area of Ireland is that in Saint? It's obviously a high cross such as the most famous one from Clonmacnoise. But if we're doing Irish themed pictures for a moment:-

And then my heart hath told me:
These will pass,
Will pass and change, will die and be no more,
Things bright and green, things young and happy;
And I have gone upon my way
Sorrowful.

Quote
With the placement and unveiling of a 9-foot Justinian cross atop a gold cupola in Roseland today, the state’s oldest Greek Orthodox congregation and its third-oldest in a sense became its newest.
He will come again with glory to judge the living and the dead. His kingdom will have no end.

Nice. Yay Ireland.

It's at the Rock of Cashel...

Quote from: Wikipedia
"The Rock of Cashel was the traditional seat of the kings of Munster for several hundred years prior to the Norman invasion. Few remnants of the early structures survive; the majority of buildings on the current site date from the 12th and 13th centuries. Cashel is reputed to be the site of the conversion of the King of Munster by St. Patrick in the 5th century. The picturesque complex has a character of its own and is one of the most remarkable collections of Celtic art and medieval architecture to be found anywhere in Europe.

According to local mythology, the Rock of Cashel originated in the Devil's Bit, a mountain 20 miles(30 km) north of Cashel when St. Patrick banished Satan from a cave, resulting in the Rock's landing in Cashel."

Oh, how I'd love to go there!

Lots of his Iceland shots (above is in Iceland) look completely otherworldly (see below for example). I'd love to go there. And I don't mind the cold so its right up my alley.
