hey does anyone know what exactly those arabic wrighting says? always wondered.
The large text of the one on our right of the Theotokos/Christ icon says "Allah." I don't know about the rest. |

IMO it shows how Latins have pretty much lost the idea of tradition. While there is nothing wrong with Coptic iconography it's really out of place in a Latin church is not a Latin only monastery - I heard there is even an Orthodox retired bishop living with them. Most of the community is made up of Catholics and Protestants. Their church looks pretty much Latin, though:  Except for the occasional icon:  |

We inherited it from Swedes. Not that it would make it anyhow more logical but anyway we didn't invent it ourselves. It was associated with Finland even during times when Finland was part of Sweden. |

If I didn't know any context I'd swear those are Greeks. Vestments and looks are IMO very much alike. There are some deacons among them - they wear their stole/oraria somewhat differently. The Greek kamylavkia (clerical headdress) are taller than the OO ones you see here. |
