Episode 3 of 6 of A History of Christianity, "Orthodoxy -- From Empire to Empire", explores Eastern Orthodox Christianity's fight for survival.

A History of Christianity is a six-part British television series originally broadcast on BBC Four in 2009. The series was presented by Diarmaid MacCulloch, Professor of History of the Church at St Cross College Oxford, and considers the evolution of the Christian faith and its four main forms: Orthodoxy, Oriental Christianity, Western Catholicism and Protestantism.

Thanks for posting this.  Enjoyed it a lot!  I have some quibbles with it but not enough to disregard it.

Watched it, not a bad program, there are a few things I wasn't a fan of, but overall it wasn't that bad.

Just watched the whole hour of it, and I really enjoyed the footage and most of the commentary. I'll go through and watch the rest of the series over time. Thanks for sharing this to our resident pan-religious weirdo Jetavan.  Wink

There's some brief mention of the Church of the East in episode 3.

Episode One gives most of its treatment to the Assyrian Church of the East and to the Oriental Non-Chalcedonians, although mainly the Syriac church.

Anybody read Diarmaid MacCulloch's Christianity: The First Three Thousand Years? I hear its an excellent single volume history on any religion.

^ Have not.

Anyone know where this video can be viewed now?  I watched it when it was originally posted and found it pretty sympathetic to us.
