Dear Friends,

We have updated the portal page.  http://www.orthodoxchristianity.net/portal/index.html

In Christ,

Past posts reflect stages of my life before my baptism and may not be accurate expositions of Orthodox teaching. Also, I served as an Orthodox priest from 2008-2013, before resigning.

I was suprised when I checked out the Portal page that the OCA was listed as the  "American  Orthodox Church".  That is a title I have never seen used to describe the OCA.  It sounds too much like some of the vagante groups on the Net.  May I request that its name be canged to "Orthodox Church in America"?  It would less confusing and more accurate.

Thank you.

?????  The official title of the OCA is already the 'Orthodox Church In America'!

The issue is not that the OCA's name is the Orthodox Church in America but that it's confusing to name a link to it 'the American Orthodox Church'.

Well, the OCA is, after all, the Orthodox Church IN and FOR Americans.   ;D  But, you're right: it's not known as "The American Orthodox Church."  The link should be for "Orthodox Church IN America."

Exactly. This is what a Google search turned up for 'American Orthodox Church'.

Or how about this one, at the bottom of the first Google search page:

http://www.theocacna.org/

The best part about this site is the paragraph at the top:

This is the domain of The Holy Eastern Orthodox Catholic and Apostolic Church in North America-« (American Orthodox Catholic Church).  Please do not be misled or confused by those in the independent movement (non canonical) who claim to be us under a variety of names and illegally claim our 1927 Charter.

And now back to our regularly scheduled program...
