I spent most of my adolescence inexplicably fascinated by WWI. Strange to see an era pass away.
Memory Eternal, Mr. Buckles, here's to 110 years well done!

It is not the task of Christianity to provide easy answers to every question, but to make us progressively aware of a mystery. God is not so much the object of our knowledge as the cause of our wonder.

I heard one of the last WW 1 Vets interviewed just a couple of years back. He said he knew it was getting near the end when the WW 1 Veterans magazine stopped coming.

I remember when there were still Civil War Vets alive. I recall the count down as each of the last dozen passed away until the last two guys, then one then none... A Reb.from Texas.

Lord have mercy on him and all of us. God keep his soul and help us to never again bring the world to such a time of violence. Help us keep his memory in our hearts, O Lord, lest we forget. Amen.
