Forgive me for starting too many threads!

My wife and I, as instructed by my priest, have undertaken a prayer rule together. We would very much like to set up and icon corner in our room. As of now, I have one icon of Christ, and my wife has one of the Theotokos. We would like to have our corner properly put together, perhaps with a couple more icons, with incense, etc.

Any tips on how to properly do this, or perhaps links?
What does one burn incense with, and what sort?

In Christ,
Jim

I'm in the same boat with you Jim. I'd also like to know what sort of incense I could use.

The most commonly used incense looks like this:

It is usually burned on top of or on the side of quick light charcoal. Just search athonite incense, I recommend the Hermitage of the Holy Cross to buy from. You can also buy the quick light charcoal and a censer to use as well from the site:
holycross-hermitage.com
As far as what you put in your icon corner, that is totally up to you.

Darn you! I hadn't thought about Dippin' Dots in so long, lol.

And from a distance...it DOES look like Dippin' Dots. Generally incense is more squared, which I think it is in the picture...that's just A LOT of incense!

I added a tag at the bottom icon corner if you click on this tag it should lead you to more threads about icon corners. This saves people from having to repost info they have already shared.

If the link provided does not work you could also try using the search bar.

I use an icon table.

We use resin incense with charcoal.  When my priest came, he mentioned that he uses the stick incense at home.

We have several icons of Christ, The Virgin Mary and two of Saint Nicholas.  Sometime in the future I plan on getting more icons, Patron Saints of my church, and the Saints we were named after.

I use stick incense, also.  I get it here: http://www.blackincense.com/, an Orthodox website.  They're coming out with cone incense, too.

For some of us, it's easier to handle stick incense.

that makes sence.  incense is incense, I guess, as long as it smells the same.   Smiley

I use stick incense from Black Powder Incense as well. It's fantastic quality and a lot more affordable and easier to deal with in a home setting, IMO. (And it puts out a lot less smoke—better for small rooms.)
