Orthodox stance on embryo research

Anyone know what the Church's stance on embryo research is?

I don't really understand what it is.....

I would respond but I dont really want to spark an american politics debate, which any response to this inherently will...perhaps you should post it in the politics forum.

I don't know that there is one yet. We might be a couple decades or more, much more ahead of any opinion, given the Church's silence on many other social, bioethics issues. Thge GOAA website lists many issues with un-official content, but this is not directly addressed. What does your heart tell you?

Although with the questions as to how this is semi-analogous to abortive contraception, I could be surprised.

It's a good question and could spark a good discussion, but it would probably be squashed too quickly if not done in the unmoderated politics board.

It may relate to politics but they can't ban everything. Asking for a pastoral position is a valid request, IMNSHO.

The GOAA website does have a piece on politics...maybe I should read it.  :-[

my understanding of Embryonic research involves killing the embryo, i am not certain this is the result of ALL research however. I would imagine the church would be against this as it is on the same lines as abortion...
