The persistence of a cult of personality around Hitler 65 years after his death really does make you wonder what would have happened if the Third Reich had lasted. Would Hitler's successor have been able to win recognition as the new Fuehrer, or would the state have fallen apart because he lacked the charisma? I suppose Hitler could have remained in state propaganda like Kim Il-Sung did in being declared the "eternal president".
