Mission in Africa

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ!

I ask for your help in this huge task to help African children! I am a pediatric surgeon working under difficult circumstances in Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (Zaria, Northern Nigeria). We have had children who have died of malnutrition because of lack of parenteral nutrition. Nearly all children with gastroschisis (a congenital defect of abdominal muscles) or esophageal atresia die because we do not have neonatal care unit with respirators and continual monitoring. Those babies with esophageal atresia die of suffocation at the age of 3-4 days. A total of 70% of the children are outside of any medical treatment in this country because parents can not afford to hospital fees.

We are planning to build a children`s hospital with modern facilities in this country and Mozambique. In our pediatric surgical ward 3-5 children die every week. All of them could be saved if they could have access to the hospital with modern equipment and facilities.

We are a group of doctors (mostly orthodox christians) who need your support. Please pray for African children and us. Please help African children through our NGO (FAMEDECO).
