Is it true that many/most of the Church Fathers interpreted the burning bush (with Moses) as an appearance of God the Son, and that pretty much all of the divine manifestations in the OT were seen as manifestations of God the Son, before being incarnate as Jesus Christ?

In Orthodoxy, I've always seen the Burning Bush (Unburnt Bush) as a type of the Mother of God:

IIRC, The Unburnt Bush is a symbol of the Theotokos, because it contained the presence of the Angel of the Lord, who is often understood patristically as the pre-incarnate Christ. So, the bush contained the presence of the Son in the form of the Angel of the Lord as the Theotokos herself contained the Incarnate Son in her womb.

My inderstanding is that Jesus proclaimed that he is known as I AM. To me this makes His presence in front of Moses the God Seer, in the bush, that of the Son, in that I AM was revealed to Moses as it was to the Apostles.
