Which of the 7 Deadly Sins Are People Committing the Most in Your State? These Maps Will Show You

The seven deadly sins have been used since early Christianity to illustrate the ways in which humans distance themselves from God. In no particular order, they are: Wrath, Sloth, Pride, Lust, Greed, Gluttony and Envy.

In 2009, a group of geographers from Kansas State University wondered what those sins would look like if presented, according to frequency, on a map of the United States...

There's no way California is that low on the Lust-o-meter. Calculating it based off of STDs isn't a good methodology; perhaps prostitution, marriage infidelity, and pornography stats would be better criteria to examine. My state prides itself on its sexual immorality--we gave you the Sexual Revolution, LGBT capital, and all those other sexual things that Christians don't like. We're #1  :D

Looks to me that upstate New York is a pretty righteous place to be! ;)

What's odd is that the American "Bible Belt" is rather high on sin per these folk's analysis....

It's due to the prayers of our moderator among the saints, upstate New Yorker Mor Ephrem.

That's been old news among statisticians for a while now.

Yea, I think Utah is #1 in pornography usage.

We're just an angry, lazy, lusty, gluttonous, jealous state, we are - but at least we're a little on the humble side about it. . .probably because we have a real problem with debauchery, but that wasn't on the list.  ;)

I visited upstate NY (not far from Sleepy Hollow) and I really liked it there. It seemed quiet and peaceful.

I was just talking to someone about how the world has changed since Christ, that is the cause of increasing sinfulness, she felt it was changing because of different morals from the past.

I always point out how that from the time of Christ to 1900, the population went from 1 billion to 2 billion, from 1900 to now it has gone from 2 billion to 7 billion. So it grew at a very slow rate for two thousand years to two billion, and then in one hundred years it has grown from 2 billion to 7 billion.

So when you wonder why there are more problems today, it is because there are exponentially more people every year as have ever been before now.
The Lord gathers his sheep, I fear I am a goat. Lord have mercy.

"A Christian is someone who follows and worships a perfectly good God who revealed his true face through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth.“

Your post is equating "problems" (end of post) and "sinfulness" (beginning). This is very interesting; can you go into more detail?
