Did you read the article? All the App provides is "a personalized, password protected, examination of conscience and a step-by-step guide to the Sacrament." It does NOT provide e-confession. One must still a priest in person for confession.
I agree, it is like a prayerbook app, which if it doesn't exist for either Catholics or Orthodox, it surely will do so in the near future. Books themselves are becoming electronic. I suspect we will have to adapt to changing technology just as our ancestors did with inventions such as the printing press, the radio or television.
