I was over at my cousin's house one day giong through some old stuff with him. He found a NWT bible and I looked through it. I showed him where it said that Christ was crucified on a torture stake, and he turned around and through it in the garbage. I felt no pain over the incident. I typically take a stance of "don't throw them away but don't read them unless you know how to properly interpret them" when it comes to bad translations, but I have no moral issues with disrespecting this particular translation in any way shape or form. It is purposely mistranslated for blatantly telling a seriously fundamental lie about the message of the Gospel.
Just my opinion.
And he didn't even have to worry about removing a cross from the cover out of respect since they don't believe in it
