Please, whatever prayers you can spare, please pray for a very near and dear friend who is contemplating suicide. She's just incredibly sad and has been for a long time and is so close to ending it. She's checking herself into a hospital but needs all the prayers she can get.

yes, she's a devout catholic.
most of her problems stem from an incredibly controlling mother that she still lives with but she feels helpless to leave.

Now where were we? Oh yeah - the important thing was I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn’t have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...

Schultz,
Your friend will certainly be in my prayers. May we have her name?

Oh, yes, that would help, wouldn't it? Her name is Mira.
Update: the worst has past, she's still very sad, but is looking for a shrink and is actually considering moving out, something she has always been quite afraid to do, thanks in large part to her mother's incessant babblings that she can't take care of herself.
Thank you all for your prayers.

Prayers,
Moving out seems to be the best thing. Perhaps there is someone around who would be a beneficial roomate for her.

I have prayed, also. I know something of what depression feels like. One question, I got a bit confused between your friend and her mother. Is the mother saying that Mira can't take care of herself (making her feel helpless) or that the mother can't take care of herself (making for guilt is anything happens to Mother)? Both bad, but it could help you or a therapist get the right angle on it.
