The global Catholic population will also grow.. But it is better to stir up emotions and forecast the coming of the armies of Allah and His Prophet.

I would like to see similar studies as well which speak of the future of Christianity.

Meanwhile Orthodox populations are declining, and have been for some time. I really like His Holiness and Beatitude Catholicos Elias II's initiative in Georgia of sponsoring babies for baptism as a means of raising the Georgian birth rate. I don't know what impact it's had on the actual birth rate, but at least a few people are having more children because they could have the most trusted man in Georgia for their godfather.

Not to be flippantly dismissive, but something of such a personal nature as this is best addressed by your priest, not by anonymous yahoos on an Internet discussion forum.

Europe is shrinking but the majority of Christians live outside of Europe. The Catholic Church has grown by 121 million souls from 2000 to 2009.http://www.rte.ie/news/2010/0428/catholic.html
Why do you think Catholics are so sure of themselves when we speak to Orthodox? Our church is growing!

I have a feeling the only way this will happen is when disaster strikes against both churches.

Human action usually seems to be over-expired.

121 million sounds like a lot (and it is, to be sure), and that is an 11.5% increase, the article says. But the world's population increased by 11.3% in that same time period, so the RCC's growth rate was only 0.2% faster than the overall population growth.

The rate of increase over population is 10% in Africa and 6% in Asia, flat in the Americas and Oceania, and a 2% decline rate in Europe.

(Population data from: http://www.census.gov/ipc/www/idb/region.php)

It would be interesting to have figures for the same period for EOC, OOC, and various Protestant groups.

Which makes it even more impressive that the OC in the U.S. grew over 16% in the last decade...  angel
