I have read that the reason the East & West have a different understanding of original sin has to do with a translation difference inthe greek in Romans 5.  I was looking at a commentary on Romans with patristic quotes and couldn't find anything that lead me towards the orthodox views.  (I excluded anything augustine said.)  Does anyone have any references of the early church fathers understanding original sin as the orthodox do today?

St. Augustine is an Orthodox saint and on par with any other Holy Father. There's no reason to exclude him. He just needs to be read in the context of other Fathers just like any other Father.
