My mother, who turned 80 last June, has pneumonia. Yesterday, her friend called the ambulance because she had difficulties breathing. The two young guys, a doctor and a nurse, who came to her apartment (yes, in Ukraine the ambulance personnel visits patients in their homes, free of charge...), did some inhections and then told her that she needs to be hospitalized. But my mom, who is the most stubborn person under the Sun, refused. They could not overpower her. Today, I understand she is still at home because my Skype says that she is online. Please mention her in your prayers!

Lord, give strength to this woman, and cause all things to work out for the Good.
Also, comfort her family members and loved ones, so that their turmoil may be assuaged.

Father, sisters and brothers, thank you for your prayers! I just heard that my mom was finally hospitalized. She is in an intensive care unit right now.

May God preserve his handmaid and have mercy on her!
Pneumonia is no joke- I lost both parents to it. My father died from it after the doctor assured him that he did not need to be hospitalized. I pray that your mother's stubborness doesn't harm her.

Thank you again for your prayers. So far, no news, which, at this situation, may be good news... She is in an intensive care unit in the Kyiv City Hospital # 22 (on Shevchenko Blvd., near the University Metro station); curiously, that's the same hospital where she gave birth to me some 53 years ago. I am praying that she makes it out from there just like I made it out from there with her back then. Thank you so much, it's so good to know that friends are praying for my mom.

Thank you all again for your prayers. She is much better today, after a short but intensive treatment with antibiotics. Her fever is gone and she is walking.

Thank you again for your prayers.
May I ask you to keep my mom in your holy prayers. There has been some development that greatly bothers Lesya and me. Physically, my mom is better every day. However, the doctor who treats her, and her visitors, noticed some unusual traits in her behavior: she became extremely agitated, and she tells people that she is having "visions." It turned out that during the last 30 years or so, Mom has been taking a rather powerful prescription drug called Tazepam (a tranquilizer), and lately she started to take it in ridiculously large doses more than once every day. It was entirely her own initiative - she has an M.D. degree and thinks that she knows everything there is to know about medicine, much better than those ignorant physicians... Now her doctors think that she is experiencing a "withdrawal." They put her back on Tazepam, but she still behaves somewhat oddly.
