Fr. George, who was a godfather to a number of people in our family, passed away this evening. He was the 1st priest of the Archangel Michael parish in Campbell, OH, and has been living in Ft. Meyers in retirement (and serving various parishes of the GOA Metropolis of Atlanta). May his memory be eternal!
Please pray for Pres. Evangeline, their children and grandchildren, and their many godchildren and loved ones (a number of whom became priests because of Fr. George's example). Lord, have mercy!

May the memory of the Lord's servant, the Priest George, be eternal.
Prayers that Presbytera Evangeline, their children, and grandchildren, be comforted in the expectation that he serves now at the Heavenly Table and will embrace them in the hereafter

Father Pappas had a huge impact on my life as a child and I really missed him when I moved away from Ohio. No one will ever forget you Father George. You were a blessing to me as well as many others. Everything I know about our Religion was taught by you and there is no other other priest in this world like you. May your memory be eternal. My sympathy to your family.

I attended Fr. George's funeral yesterday; it was a very moving experience. It was wonderful to hear from the many, many people whom he had impacted; Metropolitan ISAIAH of Denver mentioned Fr. George's mentoring when he (His Eminence) was a new priest, and a local RC priest of 35 years mentioned that, in his words, he had no RC mentor or spiritual father - that honor would always belong to a Greek Orthodox priest, Fr. George, who had taken him under his wing, and made him a part of his family.

Excellence of character, then, is a state concerned with choice, lying in a mean relative to us, this being determined by reason and in the way in which the man of practical wisdom would determine it. Now it is a mean between two vices, that which depends on excess and that which depends on defect.
