The Epiphany celebrations in Tarpon Springs, Florida, draw thousands of spectators every year. The key event is the cross dive, in which a cross is thrown into the waters of the bayou, and dozens of young swimmers rush to retrieve it. According to local tradition, the one who does so will be blessed for the whole year.

This year, Nicholas Souder will follow the precedent of his grandfather, Bill Paskalakis, and build the ceremonial cross by hand.
