Speaking of Scandinavia, I can't believe I forgot to mention Týr. They are good, but man alive is role-playing gay.

OK how about crazy train? This baby I am pregnant with right now will be the first to escape being played Crazy train in utero since my husband isn't here to do it. (And my brother killed my PC so it is lost until I buy the mp3 again) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRbPWcLode0Don't care much for metal, despite my earlier comments on this thread, but I do like "Crazy Train". Maybe it's the fact that, IMO, Randy Rhoads (guitar) often steals the show from Ozzy on this song. To my knowledge, Randy's considered one of the greatest and most influential heavy metal guitarists ever, even years after his tragic death at 25.

I'm gonna limit myself to one song per band...
Believer - The Brave Betrayal - Renouncement Black Sabbath - War Pigs Broderick Gray - Dawn of the Dragon Colourfast - Time Keeps Passing By Corrosion of Conformity - Shelter Lazarus AD - Thou Shall Not Fear Manowar - Hail and Kill Mastodon - The Czar Megadeth - Five Magics Metal Church - In Harms Way Metallica - Call of Ktulu Opeth - Wreath Pantera - (Cover of) Planet Caravan Scorpions - Coast to Coast Six Feet Deep - Broken Tree Slayer - Seasons in the Abyss Tourniquet - Psychosurgery Underoath - Casting Such a Thin Shadow
Some of my selections aren't what I'd normally consider metal, but they're close enough.
EDIT--Forgot one! -- Diamond Head - The Prince

One of the problems Christian metal groups tend to have is that, while some of them are technically skilled, they have a lyrical dissonance with their music. Good metal lyrics should be epic, brutal, and triumphant. Given that the Scriptures are full of brutality and triumph, it's strange that Christian bands generally don't get this right. Here are a few that do: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJ8HRtzjecghttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e13bkiYUTUI

Pretty much any song that made it's way to the Brutal Legend soundtrack. Even the hair metal songs on there were epic.

Everything else is really tinny or muffled. Extol owns Christian metal without dispute. Progressive death/black from Norway. Too bad it's all over.
