I would like to know how many cradle Orthodox (those baptised and chrismated in the infancy and brought up in more-less religious families) are here.

Me goes first.

Please, no serious discussions here.

Maybe a poll would help you more.

I don't think he's looking for a count of "cradle vs convert" necessarily; just wants to hear from those who have been Orthodox since infancy.  The poll would necessarily create the dichotomy he didn't ask for.

(Btw: I, too, have been Orthodox since infancy.)

I'm cradle, too. I still remember when I was baptised, chrismated and given Communion then. I was 5 years old.

As for my family, none of them (except my late paternal grandmother maybe) is/was religious, they identify as Orthodox, but they know almost nothing about Orthodoxy, Christ, etc. My grandmother also didn't know much about Orthodoxy, but she used to go to church regularly, she was trying to keep the fasts and from time to time communed. When I was a child, she took me occasionally with her to the church on Great Friday and Pascha. I was 17-18 years old when actually discovered Orthodoxy and Christianity as a whole.

Sadly, being Orthodox here (Balkans, Eastern Europe) is more an ethno-cultural thing, maybe like Roman Catholicism and Protestantism in Western Europe.

It's nice to see ecumenism in action at the local level  Wink

I'm a cradle, although my home was half Protestant and half sorta-nominal Orthodox. Like, we went to church, and that was the only contact I ever had with the Faith growing up. So I'd say I'm about 2/3's cradle.
