December will be doubly busy for the people of the Nativity of the Holy Theotokos parish in Greenville, North Carolina. The church has taken up residence at a new facility, which will open on December 19. Also, the parish will continue its work of helping those in need, with distribution of free clothing. From the article: Since its first services in September 2008, the mission has met at 3370 Avon Road in Greenville. A larger Church facility on busy Highway 33 became available this year, and the mission decided to take advantage of this opportunity in order to further its growth and outreach.

I was in the area earlier this year with my sons. Talk about the middle of nowhere. I didn't realize that Eastern NC was so sparsely populated.
It is good to know that Orthodoxy has not only penetrated such areas, but is growing.

Yes, this is one of my mission Churches. How in the world did you find that, biro?

Fr. Anastasios,
Does this mean that you will no longer using the small nave you built in your home?

hehe. For the non-Armenians, Kahana is a priest title. I am obviously making a cheesy play on the phrase "Big Kahuna."

Fr. Anastasios,
Does this mean that you will no longer using the small nave you built in your home?
I think the new church is for a different congregation. There is more than one mission in North Carolina.

Fr. Anastasios,
Does this mean that you will no longer using the small nave you built in your home?
I serve in both Raleigh, NC and Greenville, NC. I live in Raleigh, and that is where my chapel is located. Greenville has had a building from day 1, although it was a smaller property further from the city. This opportunity presented itself this year, and we decided to move there since it was bigger and on a prominent road. I go to Greenville 3 times a month; two Sundays and one Saturday, generally. The other two Sundays I liturgize in my chapel in Raleigh. Thanks for asking!
