Church Chanting from Russia
« on: April 07, 2004, 03:56:11 AM »
Interesting link a friend sent to me:  Old Believer Chant from Russia.  The music is in Slavonic and is amazingly beautiful.  Almost trumps Gregorian Chant.  Unfortuanly the site is in Russian.

Good one, JoeZollars!

I found this one this morning - Byzantine Antiochian.

Need some help here, everything is in cyrilic.  What do you click on to hear the chants?

Should there be a URL for the link with Old Believer chants?  I don't see it.

Christos Anesti!  Christ is Risen!

Stephen,

it is the light blue text in the first post which says Old Believer Chant from Russia. I've taken the liberty of adding bold tags to Joe's post.

John.

I'd like to repeat JoeS's question: where do you click to hear the chant?

Impressive work, John.

Henceforth, you should be known as "Your Moderatorship" in honor of going 'above and beyond' here.  :D

Well in that case, Thank God someone who could remember such things.  I did the same thing, but couldn't remember for the life of me where to look to find them again.

I love the voices on those  OB chants! The beginning voice on -Æ-¦-+-+-¦-¦-Ã… -ò-¦-é-¦-+-+-Ã… sort of reminds me of Star Wars or some other fantasy phenomenon (truly no insult meant, it's just that specific to me).

Many thanks,
