Palm Sunday Pics From St Stephens
« on: April 05, 2004, 09:33:43 PM »
Since you all have seen the outside of my parish (St Stephens - my avatar) thought you might like to see the inside.

Copying and pasting an email I just sent to relatives and friends -

=========

Many of you have seen the outside of St Stephen's but only a few have seen the inside.  Yesterday we were honored to have the spiritual leader and chief Hierach of or Church (OCA  [Orthodox Church In America] ) celebrate a Hierachal Liturgy for Palm Sunday.  If you click on the OCA website you can see the entire series of pictures -

Point to and click on the Photo Gallery and Events.  Click on each pic to enlarge.

Here are some of the pics that show the Cathedral and the Chapel -

Close up of the Iconstasis (Icon screen) with the Feast Day Icon on the tetrapod (table in front of the Royal Doors).  This kiot (shadow box frame) came from Russia and contains 12 Icons of the ajor feast days).  It was donated by me in memory of my parents.  The Icon that is in it is the one of Christ's entry into Jerusalem.  Also note the flowers in back of the Icons in the Icon stand.  Donated by me in thanksgiving to God for bringing my nephew home safely -

Notice the Altar boys holding our new Acolyte Candles (Three were donated by me).  If  you look you can see me between two of the Altar Boys. -

Thanks for sharing those. That's a very unusual iconostasis. I like it!

The stained glass is so pretty it reminds me of my old RC parish and those pews are just like the ones at the local Eastern Catholic parish.
