Two members of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Mobile, Alabama took to heart the idea of renovating one of the rooms of the church. Using only simple supplies, they built a replica of the Cave of the Apocalypse on the island of Patmos, where St. John the Theologian received the vision chronicled in the Book of Revelation.

From the article:
Quote
(Robert) Vrocher says the idea to build this replica came from Makis Foropoulos, the head Chanter — or assistant to the priest — in the church. Foropoulos is a native of Patmos who moved to Mobile in 1967.

...Patti Panayiotou, a member of the church and also one of the volunteers credited for decorating the cave, has been to the actual site in Patmos.

"It looks exactly like it,” Panayiotou said. "Except for  the distance of the holes, which is due to the limited space.”
