EXTERMINATE!

« on: October 26, 2010, 02:36:23 PM »

Glory to God that after close to 21 months of drawing unemployment, I'm heading back to work tomorrow on a 12-month contract to test printer software for Xerox. Now I need the grace to get back in the flow of working a 40-hour-a-week job, since I've picked up some bad habits while looking for work (like sleeping in until 10:00 in the morning). Additionally, from the time I draw my last unemployment check this week until the day I draw my first full paycheck on Nov. 25--I'll be getting paid twice per month--the pickin's are going to be mighty slim. (The first paycheck in November will be only for the three days I'm scheduled to work this week.)

Excellence of character, then, is a state concerned with choice, lying in a mean relative to us, this being determined by reason and in the way in which the man of practical wisdom would determine it. Now it is a mean between two vices, that which depends on excess and that which depends on defect.
