"Many Years" or "Long Years?"

This Greek word, "xronia" - does it mean "many," or, rather, "long" (like in "chronic disease")? Thanks!

Thank you! I thought so, too, but one friend of mine says it's "long years" rather than "many years." (He is not Greek though, so I am skeptical about this "discovery" of his.) What is "polla," literally?

It is "many", the English use of the word has evolved to  'poly' as in polygamy as opposed to monogamy. Hope that helps!

Many.  As used in the English language: polyglot (many tongues/languages), polyethylene (many ethylene molecules in the chain), polynomials (many terms), polygamy (many wives) and polyandry (many husbands), etc.
